Gene thanks for the comment. I like to review a chart and look for a big flat spot. One of my preferred spots is on a flat bank that is about 200-300 feet deep, and dropping off to much deeper all around. In this case anchor in the middle of the feature and start establishing a scent trail. Another preferred spot is to find flat or slightly sloped water that is 250-350 feet deep at the base of a steep dropoff from a pinnacle. Anchor right at the base of the pinnacle and start the scent trail.
