Stuffed Halibut Recipe

Stuffed Halibut Recipe - PlatedHey everyone here is a delicious stuffed halibut recipe for halibut stuffed with scallops that I cooked up over the holidays. I filmed the process so that you can check it out and try it yourself. It is easy to make on the difficulty scale, and does not require a lot of ingredients that you might not have on hand. The stuffed halibut recipe requires fairly large piece of halibut as you can see from the video. The fish used can be halibut as shown in the video, but can also be prepared for lingcod, or a thick portion of salmon. For the stuffing you can use scallops as in this video, or any other kind of seafood like crab, lobster, prawns, who knows maybe even oysters and clams would work. Let me know in the comments if you try any different variations and how they turn out.

Ingredients

halibut fillet – large
scallops
green onions
butter
fresh garlic

Preparation

Stuffed Halibut Recipe - PreparingTo make the stuffed halibut recipe take your piece of halibut and trim it up a bit so that it is fairly rectangular, and remove all the bones and the skin. Slice a cut into the side of the fillet to make the opening for the stuffing, as shown in the video. Cut up the scallops into smaller pieces and mix with some green onions. Fill up the cavity with the stuffing and baste with a garlic butter sauce.

Cooking

Lay the stuffed halibut on a cookie sheet lined with tinfoil and wrap the foil over the top of the fish to seal in the moisture.

Cook at a approximately 325 degrees for approximately 15-20 minutes, from time to time basting on more of the garlic butter mixture and checking the texture to see if it is done. You may have to adjust the cooking time depending on the thickness of your fish.

Serving

Serve this delicious feast with lots of fresh sliced lemons to squeeze over the halibut, and some green salad and potatoes, wild rice, or coleslaw.

Check out the video and give the stuffed halibut recipe a shot with some of your fresh-caught halibut.
